Atul village has been certified as a platinum-green village by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). IGBC is an initiative of the Confederation of Indian Industry which aims to facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment. The Council evaluated Atul village in parameters like health and hygiene, village infrastructure, water conservation, energy availability and efficiency, materials and resources, social and community actions, green innovation, etc. Initiatives in Atul village fulfilled these criteria and hence hold the distinction of being one among the seven villages in India that have been certified as a green village in the platinum category by IGBC.
