These structures reduce the flow of running water, helping it to seep into the ground and increase the groundwater level preventing soil erosion and felling of trees. 42 43 Replenishing earth During the monsoon of 2022 and 2023, the structures conserved 31 crore litres of water and 465 tonnes of soil.
